shanksponyGame animal council passed
The parliament has passed into law, the game animal council. 69 votestes to 51.
Still much uncertainty about its implementation but in my view its a positive step that finally recognises our game spieces as something other than pests.

shanksponyWhere now all introduced animals in nz have been treated the same. This council made up of affected parties including hunters will be tasked with many issues around management. Its a statutory body.

highlanderNow to put forward the nominations from the various sectors for the ministerial approval and the biggest task of them all to find the right person to chair the GAC.
16 years of graft. Job well done, now let the work begin.

shanksponyThere is so much distrust out there, that this first group of councilors will be the make or break of the council depending on how they handle the key issues.
It will be a big job to do successfully.

shanksponyWell first one they have been tasked with, is too sort out helihunting.
Next will be to satisfy rec hunters that the council can work for them. They are the biggest group, and under represented proportionally. If they loose all faith. Its the councils end.
