Buying and importing a gun from NZ
Has anyone tried this from the Aus side of the water? Chasing a certain bolt action which is thin on the ground in Australia and even the US at the moment. Found one online at Guncity NZ in their Auckland warehouse. What's the next step? Are there any established steps?
just fly over and bring it back your self, when i spoke with Brian Harrie , he told me NZ post has placed restrictions on exporting rifles firearm part out of the country...i dont know if things have changed

Fly over and get it. Even if some paperwork is needed, it's cheap, easy and a lot quicker.
Plus you get a weekend in NZ playing with a whole load of toys we can't play with here !
hmm okay. So the NZ stores will sell to an Aussie licence holder no problems? And how do I get it on the books once home?

shanksponyAs you step off the plane, go see the police at the airport.they will issue you with a visiors firearms license which will allow you to buy a firearm in NZ.

Hand it to customs, they will give you a receipt for it then take it away for safety testing. Once done, most get a dealer to pick it up. The the usual permit to purchase.
just have a B709A form when you arrive at the airport/Australian customs, some will let you take it through once you give them the B709A form, others will insist that it be picked up by a dealer
It still has to be safety tested if it hasn't been in country before.
Or have they changed that ?
