At what these outfitters are charging for Tahr and Chamois the word on the street is that a guy can charter a helicopter and a cabin to hunt in the Southern Alps.

Do you guys have any charter company contacts or contacts for cabin rental?

Thanks,

Seth

Or just drive down to Whataroa and meet the locals. They put me onto Chamois close by and introduced me to local pilots that fly for a bit less than Mr. Scott. I stayed in the pub and did day trips to get my animal. A fun time, but just a small Chamois.

skb, your "small" chamois is a ripper, the way you got it outweighs the efforts of those that shoot em from near a chopper or worse out of one.Fair chase "small" ones beat "other methods biggies"

Absolutely. It's the adventure, effort and experience that count. With money, anyone can hang big bones to his livingroom wall.

Thank you for your kind comments. The rifle is the first one I ever built, an 1909 Arg Mauser in .25/06. I sporterized the action, barreled it and stocked it from a blank. I couldn't aggre more that its the hunt that counts. Hopefully I'll make it back tio the South island next year.
