TrevofKalGot home last nite, after shooting, unloaded me metal detector, had dinner and fell asleep.I was damned tired and just passed out on the bed.Woke up thismorning, remembered that me gun was in the ute, went straight out to the ute, and there it wasn't.Barstuds had smashed me window, left 2 big screwdriver marks on the door, gun was gone with about 30 rounds. They left me knives, spotlights, detector coils, bluey jackets and took me gun.
I normally finish unloading my ute before I do anything at home, but last night I fell asleep before I finished unloading my ute!
If they never find the gun or who done it, the only thing to come of this will be me being charged with failure to secure a firearm. As well as me being up to pay for a new window and tinting.
This was the first time that the gun had been left in the ute, the ute was locked, the gun was not in plain view to the public(was under my jacket), and I do have an approved gunsafe that would be the normal home for the rifle.

Richard KymbleI'd be surprised if you keep your license. WA has the strictest firearm law in the country. Best get one of them lawyer fellas, high priced one at that. Better also hope that the missing rifle isn't used in a crime, victims of crime have a right to sue under common law if someone other then the BG (Bad Guy) is found to be negligent.

TrevofKalI had to get onto a firearms layer to get my liscense!
I asked the police that interviewed me and the seemed to think I'd get off with a fine. The sergant involved has been involved with cases like this before.
Ive had a great time lately!2 days ago, whilst out detecting, a stick flew up off the front tyre, bounced off a tree, and through the window and broke my nose, My gun gets stolen, then when I moved enough stuff around in the back yard to get my (now unlockable )ute in,I find the ute battery flat and jump started it,took it for a drive only too get booked for "dirty tail lights"( $110 and 3 points.)

TrevofKalI am normally meticulous with my guns and their care.Thats part of the trouble with being a long term shiftworker, when the body clock says sleep , you sleep.
BTW, it was my Ruger 77/22 hornet HB stainless laminate that got nicked.(one of the nicer guns I've owned)
