muzzaGeography Quiz Time
Time for something more stimulating than slagging each other over who wrote whose constitution , and whos gunlaws are crap...
This is a quiz for non-kiwis only . Guess the name of the mountain and the direction of the photo to win . No prizes tho , just the satisfaction of not being part of the gunlaw argument ...
I guess we should really work out an actual prize system for these little brain-teasers , like back issues of hunting mags or something . Any thoughts ?

So is muzza a Hobbit, a Dwarf or an Orc?
01 March 2005, 22:55
muzzaNo Hobbits here guys , although if there was - up there would no doubt be were you might find them .
The flat-landers are struggling here I see . I'd have thought geography wouldnt be too tough , despite the fact that the one disturbing geographical feature of Australia is that any of it is above sealevel...

May have to post another clue before the day is out .

muzzaHint number three-
Altitude is 2518 metres above sea level ( 8261 ft asl)
And Australia doesnt have anything that comes close to a proper mountain...

muzzaYou win the prize... drumroll please!
This is our local hill , a dormant volcano due to show some activity anytime soon . Erupts on a 250-ish year cycle , last time was in the 1700's so......
And you got the direction of view right too . ( Actually I would have accepted the word "upwards " from a resident of Australia as well .)
The first couple of pics are taken in the bed of the Kapuni River , the later two from the Visitors Centre lower down .
Well done mate .

NitroXSee I was right, I think.
It is the same mountain behind Muzza's farm, and was used in the LOTR's movies. You have shown photos of it before.
Muzza,
Am I correct or not?
02 March 2005, 12:02
muzzaSorta right NitroX - the mountain is the local one , but it was a backdrop to the movie The Last Samurai with Tom Cruise , not the LOTR series .Most of the mountain scenes for LOTR were filmed in the South Island.
And like I mentioned before - I would have accepted "up" as the camera direction on these pics , but only from an aussie ...

Musta thrown in too many clues , thought this might have taken longer , but I guess 416SW found an Atlas.....

NitroXI got confused with Kiwis posing as samuari, orcs and kiwis. They all look the same to me.

(But oops, wrong movie)

416SWOK Muzza just because we have the flatest continent on the planet and you live on a hilly island no need to get smart
