My wife works up in Toowoomba and I talked her into staying home today. Glad I did because the road where she parks her car is washed away! They've just warned out Gatton and the Lockyer creek as a 7 meter wall of water is headed their way.

Bakes,

Where abouts are you located, I'm about 20 minutes west of Toowoomba, and we had the bridge on the way into our small town washed away this afternoon, with the Toowoomba water coming down Gowrie Creek. My wife only just got home this afternoon as well.
Downtown Toowoomba's a bit of a mess this afternoon hey?

I'm at Laidley. Just spoke to my cousin at Murphy creek, he was stuck in toowoomba this afternoon and only just got home now. We've packed the cars ready for a quick get away but I think we'll be ok. Apparently there are still people trapped on roofs at Grantham.

Dan - I think snow would be preferable to the water damage that happens with floods. At least the snow melts slowly - imagine having 20 feet of snow all melt at once , how much water that would make .

Cleaning up after floods has to be the worst job , the stuff smells for months afterwards. Frowner

I've heard from a reliable contact that the death toll is going to get much higher.
