BANTENG HUNTING
Once again it has come to my attention of some advertising for Banteng hunting in Arnhemland, Northern Territory of Australia.

To my knowledge these people have no permits to run a lawful business in Arnhemland, Northern Territory.

Anyone thinking of booking a Banteng hunt should do the following.

Make sure your Outfitter has a Corporate License for the Northern Territory of Australia.

A person cannot operate a Hunting Safaris business in Arnhemland, Northern Territory without one.

Cooperate Licenses pertain to maps e.g. The Outfitters Licensed hunting area. An Outfitter cannot get a hunting license approved in Arnhemland without a section 19 document, SPECIFIC TO HUNTING.

Outfitters should be able to provide this on request, additionally as an Outfitter he should also have a Corporate firearms license.

Any international hunter must have an international visitors permit that can only be issued in conjunction with the operators corporate license to hunt on the operators nominated hunting area.

Hunters from the USA that take an animal without these things in place are breaching the LACIE act and are venerable to prosecution. Something that the approved operators are pursuing strongly at present.

Northern Territory Firearms licensing are aware of this illegal activity and they can be contacted tom.dudley@pfes.nt.gov.au

The aboriginal land trust that controls the area is the NLC currently and can be contacted on WickhP@nlc.org.au to get information on approved operators

Additionally to this, I have had International Hunters complain to me, that the Outfitter they have hunted with has told them not to bring their own rifle as it was far too hard to get the paper work to do so.

This is what an unlicensed Outfitter will tell you.
Please be advised once and for all that this is absolute rubbish! If the Outfitter you have booked with has a corporate license there is no problem importing sporting rifles to hunt in the Northern Territory of Australia.

I believe "Lacey Act" is what the "approved operators" would want to pursue strongly, rather than the "LACIE act" which can be previewed below.....

I was offered Pete.

$3500

That is where they get the MANY clients from that are 'happy at that price' citing "they couldn't afford the fair dinkum price" but wanted one anyway.

Its no different to the illegal smokes/drinks sellers, there will always be those that want a shortcut with many willing to supply.

Gryphon1, and some of these guys can afford to do Marco Polo hunt, but then choose to poach their Banteng.

I don't really care what they personally do, but when people start trying to sell illegal guided hunts that's another story.

I'm just telling people what the truth is about Guided hunts in Arnhemland.

So when they get caught and there rifles are confiscated they cant say they didn't know and start having a cry about it.

Pete you have been in the game for so long to know that there are the unscrupulous on both sides of the fence.
Plenty of so calleds don't care how they get the whatever it is on their wall.

Me? I have never had the dough nor the inclination to shoot banteng, even at three and a half.

Theres a rumour around that some 'name' has been caught in NZ recently ..for poaching!

Your not telling me anything I don't know there, but what I'm trying to do is give the prospective International hunter a way to find out if the Outfitter is legitimate or not.

.....and just because he is legitimate in one area doesn't mean he is legitimate in another ! It's not hard for the Outfitter to give you this information.

If he can't do that, well the alarm bells should be ringing loud and clear.

If you had of got caught without a permit doing a $3,500.00 Banteng hunt, I can assure you it would of cost you lot more than $3.5K!!!!!

Yes I heard a rumours as well, but at this stage all it is a rumours.

The "name" wont be the first Aussie name to get busted poaching here or elsewhere for that matter.

Its fairly common knowledge that one of your big name magazine writers was busted with a stolen red deer head some years back. He still writes today too , so maybe more noise needs to be made of this type of issue .

Maybe , Matt , but maybe not bullshit either.

Having heard stories about dodgy aussie guys on both sides of the Tasman I am prepared to be cautious. Others are free to make their own judgement call.

You raised this separate allegation. Inquiring minds would like to know wtf you are on about.

As for the first allegation - that appears to some simple hunters - putting 2 and 2 together and getting 6. Then turned upside-down by the Internets, blindfolded, driven down the road for a few k's and now it is a something completely different.

And ends in A?

The drums have been beating, emanating apparently from Aotearoa across the sea. I`m pretty deaf and the message is somewhat obscure but thats what the cypher suggests.
