muzzaNZ Deer Roar - Late This Year?
So - with the great spell of summer weather we have had - what can we expect as far as timing of roar hunts this year ? I am expecting the roar will be quite late , and if the temperatures dont drop dramatically it may be something of a none-event in some areas.
Anyone else have thoughts?

muzzaYour deer are more acclimatised to the heat Bakes - ours dont often get this much warmth at this time of the year. No frosts as yet and nights are still very warm so the natural triggers of the mating season for deer might not be there yet.

TrackersNZI can confirm. Not a lot of action yet! Bit fo rain down south might cool it down and get things started.

johnfoxJeez, he's a cracker, Gryh.

That is the epitome of a red stag for me. Others might fancy those NZ mutants but an even twelve or fourteen pointer with plenty of bulk in the beams ticks all of the boxes IMO.

gryphon1Yes JohnF I know what you mean about the mutants. The pen owners cut/nick them when in velvet and a new point grows from the nick...pure bullsite eh!.
Yep I`m happy with my little and WILD red stag mate.
