South Pacific Dream Hunt
If you were given (or had) the opportunity to do any (legal) hunt you liked in the South Pacific, what would it be? Not necessarily a 'trophy' hunt.

Personally - I would very much like to do a really good sika hunt in the rut... private land maybe......but not necessarily?? They are cool looking deer and country I have not seen before. Either that or a private land hog deer hunt in Australia. Private land hog deer is ridiculously expensive to do ... might have to 'tweek' a few contacts down there... Have done a banteng hunt for myself - even though I didnt come home with one (long story) - so there is that too but that one can wait.

For me it would also be sika..... and whitetail and banteng. Then my personal "slam" would be complete.

I know, that's three hunts.

Cheers,
Mark.

Indonesia is island of Australia isn't it sofa

Australia and New Zealand wildlife is a very sad case of what could have been, just think Blue Sheep,Ibex,Gaur,African plains game and Roe deer just to start with.

Because I live in NZ my initial thoughts were for something in Australia , like Buffalo or Banteng or wild bulls.

But the reality is if I was able I think a true Wapiti out of Fiordland , during the bugle would probably be my pick .

I have a chamois , and a tahr , and dont much care for red deer , have some fallow heads , a hoggie with a naughty tale attached , a rusa and a chital, and am getting to the stage were I would rather help my son get some nice hunting adventures than have something else of mine to hang on the wall.

""Tiger in Indonesia"" TP I did that hunt back in 82 , it was legal then , well it wasn't illegal any way !

Very hard place to hunt & not that enjoyable
I did not get one , but there were a lot around in those days , did see a Sun Bear & monster python !

I do like to hunt Banteng & a Big Hog stag would be nice !

Imagine Markhor/Ibex instead of Thar in NZ & Gaur/Tiger in the far North of Aussie

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

The African plains game, as a rule dont do all that well here mate - I believe the browse is just too different. Gaur and Ibex.... now you're talking!!! Gaur on Cape York and Ibex in my backyard (Northern Tablelands) - mmmm hmmm now that woukd be something.

Well I've already got banteng and hog deer, but not a sambar stag.

I would also love to hunt wapiti, free range, and wild fair chase, in Fiordland. A real adventurous wilderness hunt that still exists today.

Also chamois and tahr free range, fair chase.

Saltwater crocodile while not such a big deal would also be nice, but probably a boring hunt.

Tiger if possible, without a doubt, plus Gaur or Seladang. Rogue Asian wild elephant ...

Tassie Tiger or Australian panther . Now they would be worth serious bragging rights.

The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.

Will do half of my "dream" south Pacific hunt in 6 months.. 2 big Aussie buff with an old English double in hand.
Will return one day to hunt the banteng.. Thus the dream will be comepleted.

Shot heaps of stags (lived in NZ) and a handful of tahr and chamois..
Will repeat the tahr/chamois hunts. Have no interest in shooting another stag.
