.338_lapuaImporting custom rifles
Has anyone here ever ordered a custom rifle from the US?, currently I'm really looking at the Remington700 Safari from their custom shop, but I guess its a matter of more than just getting the shop to order one. I've seen them being used by in Australia so I assume its been done. What would it cost roughly?

Charlie MI think you will find if you want to deal with Remington ,you will have to order your rifle thru a gunshop who will order the rifle thru the Australian Importer
Raytrade,
P.O Box 4212 ,
Dandenong South,
Victoria..
If you can get Raytrade's phone number ,ask them what your options are and if you are lucky they may have a rifle in stock or know where one is in a gun shop.
Normally you order the rifle ,pay a deposit and wait maybe up to 12 Months to have the rifle built and sent out.
Some fellows I shoot with a few years ago ordered 40 XBKS's and K.S Mountain rifles etc and this is what they had to do.
Good luck,
Charlie

Mike375338 Lapua,
As Charlie knows I have just been through the procedure with Weatherby and almost went Remington.
As Charlie says you need to make the purchase through a gun shop and they will obtain the rifle from Ray Trade.
The best way is to phone both Ray Trade and Remington Custom Shop and do the work yourself and establish a relationship with the Remingtom people. I did not get to this stage with Remington but I feel the general principles would be the same as Weatherby.
Also as Charlie says phoning Ray Trade might turn up what you want straight away.
