C'mon guys - Independance Day celebrates America booting out the British Monarchy so they could spend the next 200 years inventing their own version of it and basing that creation in Hollywood....

The British were not ...booted out... and actually won most of the various battles; the major business interests in Great Britain were and had always been against the war as the USA was a major trading partner and other Britons also were opposed. A treaty was negotiated and, as in the later 1812-14 conflict, the American rebels were treated with great generosity and acceptance by the nation that created their country.
You are correct, as in their typically boastful manner, they have had Hollywood manufacture their "history" and Obama, could not find his own arsehole without assistance.

Classic dishonest and dillusional sore loser response.
Go cut some more trees so we can frame our condo complexes Dewey.
I would suggest that you try to read some actual history, major American historians included......but, that would require a level of intellect that you so obviously lack. Keep your "John Wayne" fantasies and Obama, while the rest of the world laughs.
If you guys want to get into a "my country's better than yours" please do it in another place.

I like that, good response.

Anyway, happy Independence day to the US.
Please note - my posts have been in humour

May I suggest the better time to post that was straight after Fjold's first post.

I think he was referring more to the "Canada versus US" posts as opposed to yours and mine
which were a bit in jest.
I might be wrong though, happy to be corrected.
IMHO, a good bit of light humour such as your post is good, the "Canada versus US"
was a bit heavy IMHO.
Anyway, both "Canada and the US" were colonised by the BRITISH !!! LOL
.
.
May I suggest buying a sense of humor.

Nothing funny about it. Keep your kulture at home please.
Just a point here, my comments were not intended as "Canada vs. the US", they were simply because my immediate reaction to "Fjold's" initial post was, it seems, much the same as that of "Code4".
We Canadians, get comments from Americans constantly about our supposed lack of independence and find them highly offensive, so, I felt it appropriate to chime in here.
ooopps - did I cause that ???

Sorry if that was entirely me , gents , seems things got a little out of hand there.

Sorry Code4, I didn't catch it in time. I'll try harder next time

I don't mind a bit of light hearted banter with the appropriate smilies but I could see this post going bad. And let me say this only once. THE ONLY COUNTRY BASHING THAT I WILL TOLERATE ON THE AUSSIE/NZ FORUM IS BETWEEN THE AUSSIES AND THE KIWIS
