Off topic but XJR 1300
Many of us gun nuts also love big bikes.

I am thinking about a "grey import" XJR 1300 as I have a fair bit of travelling to do over the next two months and I don't want to run up the k's in my Landcruiser.

Any thoughts about this bike? IMI in Knoxfield has them starting at about the $6000.

Other options for a biggish comfortable bike for around the same money?

Was tempted on another style.

I took out a Triumph Sprint 1050 and didn't find it comfortable, although quite quick..... and at $17,000 there seems to be too many dollars involved

Although I love naked bikes, if your going to do some serious K's I'd go for something with a fareing. I travelled from Newcastle to Amberley on my XV750 and anything over 120k amd I was constatly buffeted. It gets kinda old after awhile. I'd also go for a bike that you don't have to lean to far forward to hang onto the bars.

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

BMW K series. Either a K75 or a K100 can be had in good nick for around that money...

My 20 year old son has refered a few times to a Kawasaki that would be a good bike for someone my age (52). I was going to buy a ZZR 1100 til I did something very silly on one at a fair turn of speed and needed to renew my courage.

A decent tourer around 1000 cc???

I second BMW. I ride a R1100RT. I agree with the idea about a fairing.

Bit gay? You should see the Virago that my lady and I got for our Learner permit. The quissential 'Bike of Gayness'. I was trying to decide if a gun scabbard down the side would macho things up, or would that be suspiciously too macho Confused

ST1300A looks OK.

triumphs are still made in Britian I think so I guess their quality ain't up to a BMW or a good bog Jap bike. I once new a Bonnieville that leaked so much oil...... better stop at the one recollection Wink

Bought a 1200 Bandit (2004 model) with low k's at a great price. It is in excellent condition. I've only done 2000 ks so need a trip to see what its really like for touring. It will go though Wink
