BakesWhat do you think of this....
45-70 case necked down to 9.3 on a SMLE.
No reason just for shits and giggles

BakesYeah 35-303 has been done a lot. 9.3 would be different. I've seen SMLE's rebarreled to 45-70 and that's what got me thinking out a 9.3 on the 45-70 case.

Von GruffI have done one of mine with a 405 Winchester case shortened from 2.583 back to 2.410 ( I call it the 400 Lee Speed) and loaded with a 330gn bullet to 1950fps over 46gn 3031 and a really nice plinking load at 1500fps with 20 gn Blue Dot
Holds 5 down in a mag with single stack insert. The 303 I built on top with the 400 lee Speed below

I think the 45/70 can be blown out and take the 475 bullet and if so that would give you big pistol bullets. The boys on Big Bores will know.
Or maybe a 45/70 to 41 calibre or to 429. Again all those bullets.
I reckon if you do 9.3 you will end up getting the shits because of the bullet situation. The other problem with 9.3 bullets is they will be designed with a much higher velocity in mind then you get from a 45/70 case capacity and doubly so with pressure limitations of the SMLE.
