secondtryWet salted or tanned ? Accompanied baggage or shipped/postage separately ? It makes a difference
Customs should be no problem. There will be CITES and AQUIS requirements.
Both Black and Grizzly/Brown are listed on CITES. Depending on which CITES schedule they are on your needs at import will vary. If your skin arrives without any necessary CITES permits, you will have a big problem. If it arrives without necessary AQUIS permits, you will also have a problem.
AQUIS are usually very helpful. Check their web site. Don't take chances with your skin. Get your info from the horses mouth.

NakihunterI am not sure how differnt Aussie regulations are to NZ. I got my bear rug from British columbia with no hassels. It took 18 months though!

georgeldBest of luck with that dream.
Just don't do what my Dad did and crawl down the bear tunnels! He went alone, just him and his .375. Was well back in one over 1/4mile when he came to a five gallon bucket sized pile that was still smoking warm. That's the instant he realized "just how damned stupid I was". Couldn't get off Admiralty fast enough. He'd arranged for a guy with a boat to come get him when he signaled. Took the guy a mighty long time to get across the water.
When the time comes, lets hear the story and see the pics.

shauno50Ill probably do it in Alaska in the Fall Sept or Oct 2014. I sort of Figure the biggest trophy's will be then when they have had all summer to beef up.
I've got a nice 375H&H Sako 85 Kodiak Id like to use but ive also just ordered a 50B&M for Africa plus I have another rifle in the 458 class. I like the idea of using the Sako though for this hunt.

Mike BrooksTrue, BUT the hides are better in the spring after they've had a long nap without and place to rub the hair off.
