muzzaThanks Greg
I havent posted any pics here for a while so thought someone might be interested.
My buck doesnt have great antlers but they are very even - and the area they came from isnt known for very good heads. Derryns buck walked in front of him at 5 metres and blocked out the scope as he was watching another deer , and the spiker was an 80 metre moving shot as he and his mates headed for cover .

highlanderJust got back from a days fallow hunting/scouting in West Otago. Great to see that the bucks are starting to appear out of the woodwork, was beginning to think we had upset them with our culling operations last winter.
Hopefully we'll get one on the grass in the next couple of days. Saw one yesterday that will give the 230mark a push, fingers crossed.
We heard one short grunt, so I suggest the rut is still 10 days away.
Couple of good headskins there Muzza, does taste better.

muzzaThanks highlander.
We cant compare against your South Island fallow heads , but then the Wanganui heads have never been up to much.He is very even though , which is unusual for the area we were in.
The meat is destined for salami and sausages so it wont be wasted , and the spiker will fill my freezer for a month or two - till I need another spiker to replace him.....

SpartanHi fellas
I managed to hunt the last week of the season in Tasmania. Saw plenty of animals and about six stags worthy of a second look. After a few years of effort, i took my first buck of around 215 DS at first light, after waiting for over an hour in a great Tassie downpour.
Try as we may, the mate couldn't close the deal a big fella pushing 240DS. I'll post a few photos if ever i work out how its done.
Cheers, Jim
