Inexpensive hunting?

captdavidInexpensive hunting?
This may never happen, but. I am married to a Filippina. In a few years, we will go to visit her family. She'll remain for awhile and I'll return. If I can find a relatively inexpensive flight to Australia, is there any inexpensive hunting? I'm not in to killing kangaroos, but scrub bulls goats, sheep, pigs or something else would be ok. Also, It's almost impossible to get a gun into the philippines, so I might even purchase one there. Maybe it's the Anglophile in me , but I wouldn't mind having a decent sporterized Enfield too. I'm just rambling and any ideas would be appreciated. thanks, capt david

BakesUnless you know someone that is willing to take you out hunting, I'm afraid your stuck with using a guide. You can hunt in Vic on public land for Sambar deer, but I would think you would need local advice. There is a bloke in Vic that will put you in Sambar country for $90 a day, ish???

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Matt GrahamYou make it sound like a bad thing Bakes?

Basically any O/S visitor wanting an NT permit will need to go through an outfitter anyhow...
not sure about other states...

billinthewildI met Matt Graham in Dallas and again in Reno. Seems to me like a straight shooter and a chap you could work with. Give him a call or a pm.
Hunting in a place that is new and strange to you without a chap who knows the area can end up being a costly mistake. And as far as guns go, Matt could probably arrange to let you use one of his.

skbI'm looking forward to my first New Zealand hunt this April. I'm going on a guided free range Red Stag hunt and then, who knows. I have a bit more time and may try for Chami or Thar. I would really like a fallow too. Cost will be an issue for sure as I will be pretty poor after the guided hunt. I was visting the south island last July and cant wait to hunt it. Oh yeah, and I sure could stand a fresh pint of Old Dark.

Matt GrahamWho are you hunting the red with skb?
12 February 2007, 15:10
skbMatt,
I'm going to hunt reds with david Musgrave. I thought I had chami and Thar lined up too, but the gentlemen I was speaking with about that hunt is not able to make it. I should be kinda poor after the Red hunt, but still looking for stuff to hunt that second week of my trip. I have a line on some duck shooting and maybe a fallow depending on how things work out. I'm looking forward to my trip to say the least.

Matt GrahamI hope you have a great hunt - you'll certainly be there at the right time for the reds.
I am hoping to get there myself for the same kind of red stag hunt, mid-April, South Island - maybe a tahr too if I'm lucky but all of our guides are full up - busiest month of the year- and I dont know that country (tahr country) myself.
Cheers
Matt
