For a new rifle. A Tikka Lite in 9.3x62. First new rifle in about 28 odd years! Big Grin

Good for you Bakes. Tikka are good value for their cost. What are you planning to hunt with the 9.3 x 62 ?

Budget isn't allowing a scope at the moment so I'll take the Redfield off my swede.

you will like the 9.3 Bakes. Its a good caliber - older than the 30-06 and just as effective. Woodleigh makes some very nice projectiles for it too.

I do like the euro calibers. Currently I have a 6.5x55, a 8x57 Vergueiro, another 8x57 I'm building as a sporter, a .303 now add the 9.3. I do have a .222 but as everyone uses .223 I'm happy with that Big Grin

Just put a deposit on a rifle myself. Wasn't intending too, was going to save for it and buy it outright later, but then found out yesterday that they were discontinued 18 months ago and probably one of the last 2 available was sitting in a shop in NZ. and in the calibre i wanted.
So I asked if I could do a lay-by and they said yes.
I have for some time wanted a true lightweight mountain rifle in a proper mountain calibre. My research led me to the Barret Feildcraft. who made them in .270 win
A 24 inch barrelled rifle with great history of accuracy that weighs 6lb.

Nice one Shanks. Nice rifle purposely designed for light carry and should serve you well in the hills. Good calibre choice too. Hope it wasn't too spendy...!!
Wonder what stopped productiin of these. Covid related maybe...?

Quite spendy for me anyway. about 4 grand nzd

but my last 270 cost 800 dollars and lasted me for 28 years and Ill sell it for 800 now.
I want this to be that sort of rifle, the one I turn too because i know it well and want to use it for everything. So worth the money.

What I was told was that thier military production took precedence.

Spending is good for the health you know. Remember the Barrett in Melbourne? It lives with me nowadays.
