ConVic licensing fees - Zimbabwe style
Guys,
Check this out. Victoria's Regulatory Impact Statement to rejig the Firearms Regulations is proposing:
1. A decrease in shooters licence fee of between 11-23%
2. A 97% increase in handgun license fees.

3. 138% increase in junior licenses.

4. 647% increase in dealer licenses (A/B and general handguns)

5. A 239% increase in Permits to Purchase.

sjmSay goodbye to the small/mixed shop gundealers and no dealers and gunsmiths who operate from home or no shopfront. The statement says 303 Gundealers in Victoria I think it will easily halve that number! So what happens to a dealer who cannot afford this increase does he have to sell his stock at a loss? or is there another buyback coming up? bit by bit the government is closing down the shooting sports ...Bastards!

ConThe closing date for submissions is I believe the 11th of March.
It kind of makes me laugh to consider as a taxpayer I paid the wages for the joker that came up with those figures.
Those numbers will end most small time one person dealerships.

Sambar 9.3And by making it a saving for about 80% of the end-users (A+B users), they will actually make this bit of encroachment popular!
Bastards...

sjmThe way I see it they want licence fees to pay for the running of the firearms registry, so what are tax's for? A licence is to show you are competant in things like driving, shooting, second hand dealing, etc it is not supposed to be for revenue but in Victoria they see it as revenue and a way of slowly pushing people out of the firearms industry..Bastards!!

Consjm,
Perhaps they could look at efficiencies within the Licensing Services Division?
Maybe I'll put in my submission ... cease registration

. That might make someone spit out their coffee

Hmmm. How many dead? Perhaps not...
We normally try to sort out our differences at the ballot box. Less bloodshed that way.
Cheers, Dave.
