Peter Brock dead
I had mixed fealings about Steve Irwin but Brocky is a major loss to us. Frowner

It's mercy, compassion and forgiveness I lack; not rationality.

It's obvious already that the media aren't going to make quite the deal out of Brock's death that they have of Irwin's .Given Irwin's media connections and the fact that they think that they are the most important industry on Earth I suppose it's to be expected . Lots of treehuggers there too as we well know .
Few that have had contact with wild animals would have been surprised that Irwin lost his life to an animal attack . Fewer still would have guessed that Brocky would go out the way he did .
An Australian icon by anyone's standards .

The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.

One thing about Peter Brock i admire was he and his wife helped underpriviledged kids .Rather than cute dumb animals that everybody feels ''sorry for ''!!!

Brocky didnt need the media to sensationalise him into something. His achievements were recognised by down to earth people from all walks of life over some 3 generations.
He achieved by combining natural talent, humble application, endurance & determination.

i was sad to hear about his demise, i found a new respect for the man five years ago when my 5 year old daughter won a coloring competition and was awarded 1 st prize by Peter Brock, there were absolute throngs of people waiting for him for signitures etc etc, he was not fazed by the rush, he gave my 5 year old , all the time she wanted, signiture photo , had a chat , and went on to the next person when my daughter had finished with him ...a real gentleman, and my daughter now ten still remembers him so well
