Nice toad, is it ACTUALLY true that they can give you warts or irritate your skin if held with bare hands??

Not real sure about the warts but the glands behind their eyes (those bulbous lumps you can see) are just oozing with poison. Would kill a brown dog if it happened to eat one....

Its a good pic. I caught one in the dog kennels at work one day and hit it with the shit scoup. Poison squirted up into my eyes I had to stumble over to the fire hose and give my eye a good flush hahaha didn't I feel like a goose . I have a real light coloured toad in the freezer at work. Its going to go in a jar with all the other stuff we've collected over the years (snakes and stuff)and no they won't give you warts BUT some people have been known to lick them and get stoned

There are not enough toads on my property. I like them for their bug eating abilities.

Only very few critters can eat a cane toad without ending up dead. We have a snake that can (fresh water snake)Crows and kites flip them over and eat them from the belly. Don't think a skunk can? How come you like toads and hate skunks? I've seen the pepe lepew cartoons and they seem like a nice little animal!

The NT goverment has a competition going for the best toad trap. First prise is $16000. Not bad hey!

Me I like them, gives me something to do as I drive around on Night shift. Current record is 120 in one shift.

To get rid of toads - put an ad in the New Orleans newspaper saying - "New Zealand Toads - open season, no limit, great with crawfish." You will be out of toads in a week.

A toad trap is really easy to make. I can help but require half of the reward money up front.

Minor problem there Dogcat - New Zealand doesnt have toads , its Australia that is afflicted with them. At first I thought the photo was of Easy Rollins , but apparently I was mistaken..

Bakes one of my dogs developed quite a taste for them-He'd start out licking them, end up shaking them like a rat and then run about frothing at the mouth for an hour or so. (Sort of like Muzza after leaving a thread I'm on )

Seriously my dog had a deplorable drug habit, but since he used to kill swamp adders in the yard we allowed him an occasional vice.



I remember at school we used to have competitions to see who could devise the best ways to kill cane toads. Would be funny to watch kids smashing them around with golf clubs, cricket bats, rocks ,all organised by the school teachers- Real community spirit stuff!



In the end it was decided such things were bit barbaric and the proper way was as bakes mentioned a water pistol and dettol, or even better a trapdoor in the lawn filled with salt. Much more humane
