Thanks Bakes - we had - Americans, Canadians, Aussies, English, Finnish, Swedish and one former Zimbabwean.

Some very nice Pigs,will you have a stand at Wild Deer expo in Melbourne next year??

A bit of a mix there. What are the different thoughts from the various nationality's about Australian hunting? ie, our laws, the type of game, country hunted in, snakes (I know some overseas hunters are worried about them)etc.

Argghhh - not sure - Trying to get back from the USA in time for it but I am not sure. I am also meant to be going to NZ that week for a celebration fishing trip for a mate who is turning 40. My missus has already come to terms with me going to NZ, after much whining - so it seems I shouldnt waste that opportunity now??

I would like to go to the Deer Expo though, if they will have me .... will get back to you on that...

Most of them only get to see one area, so they get to know that area intimitely. They generally love it of course - at least the serious guys who get into the hunt and everything about the area. A few of them find the conditions too tough and/or are just there to collect a species or whatever but for the most part they are in the minority. Most of our clients anyway are pretty serious hunters (ie. dont mind climbing mountains, near freezing to death, getting bogged for 2 days, etc, etc.

Snakes - yeah most first timers are pretty wary but they soon realise that it is mostly BS, certainly in the 'winter' months.

Most hunters have seen all about Australia on TV and for many it is a lifelong desire/goal to come here - so we feel very privelaged to facilitate that and hope that we gain new friends, new friends who will keep coming back to Australia - it's not just about putting money in the bank. Even the guides will tell you that having happy relaxed clients in camp is more important than the tips... hell most of the guides can earn better money elsewhere - they do it because they love it!! We have a client coming next year from Calif for his 18th hunt to Australia.... yeah he loves the place!!

Country hunted-in.... especially the NT - everyone says "wow this is just like ...........(insert African country)"

Laws - most visiting hunters are a bit inconvenienced. I point out to them for them to travel here with their guns is easier fro me to travel to their country with guns (USA anyhow).... I dont know if that point gets across. Most hunters cant understand the quarantine laws of course.. "they took my damn granola bar of me!! WTF???" or they get fined etc!! hehe

Type of game - yes they love it but it is ALWAYS compared to Africa, where you can hunt more species in the one place. We have that here too it is called game ranches!! but the majority of our hunters will do the free-range hunts and take just a couple of species. Most (N American especially) - would like more but hey!!

Yes mate but it varies from season to season - locale and numbers...

I dont understand though... the plane landing in NiZeelund is it full of Kiwis or Pommies??

You haven't flown for a while too here, the planes are full of bloody Aussies, coming over and renting campervans

Its just the echo got trapped when they closed the doors pre take off.

Good stuff Matt . Hope to add a few big porkers to the 2010 gallery in September .

Interesting story about that dog. We killed those two boars off a bait at first light and left them where they lay and raced off in a hurry to hunt another bait where we got a couple more pigs. Came back to the first bait to take some trophy shot and when we walked into the spot saw the dog sneaking away and the hunter killed him ... that's a happy morning!!

Nice pics. Glad to see that Wayne and I made the gallery. I think I got one of the biggest cows of the season. If not, how about the highest number? Anyway, we had a great time and are looking forward to doing it again.

That's the sound of Kiwis arriving home.
Beautiful country but they only have one season and it's Winter. Was there for a week in beginning of December. Highest maximum was 17 I think. Visibility down to 50m on the first day of Summer in New Plymouth. Something like 100mm of rain overnight.
Kiwis are a very generous race though! A Christchurch seafood restaurant gave one of our group a free dose of food poisoning for the plane trip home . Poor bugger wasn't game to go to sleep on the plane in case he shat himself ! He did leave a technicolor parting gift in the airport departure lounge to try and square the ledger though.
