EXPRESSVictorian gun laws - shotgun barrels
Can anyone tell me you need a permit to purcase a set or U/O barrels in Victoria?
I wanted a chopped down shotgun for pigs in the lignum and was planning on buying the cheapest shotty I could find and taking to it with a hacksaw. Then I though of buying a pair of barrels for my U/O, but it's a Beretta, and a bit too nice for bashing around with, so maybe a bit of tape to protect it would be in order.
If it's going to cost an arm and a leg for a pair or barrels or take the same paperwork as buying a shotgun then I may as well go on and buy a whole gun.
Thanks.

GadgeNo, you won't need a permit to acquire, for barrels only.
However, an extra Beretta barrel set is not an off-the-shelf item - they need to be individually fitted to your action. Not a cheap job to have done, and there are only a couple of gunsmiths in Vic I'd trust the job to.
Better off buying a cheapie.
