Karl, What you see on tv is exactly what the news networks want you to see. I’m appalled at what the kiwis are dealing with right now, but it’s none of my business.
We have issues over here no doubt, but only the ugly stuff makes the news. Did you hear about the demonstration March that took place in my town? Of course you didn’t because it was perfectly peaceful and a media non event!
Don’t assume that what you hear on the news is accurate.
I agree about media but I am thinking the protests must be having some impact for government officials to be removing monuments to appease them?
Its hard to work out who is doing more damage to US history here, the protesters or officials? Will they put these back, permanently decommission or the old classic hide them in old meuseums and cemetaries where the public doesnt get to be upset by them?
I highlighted a few of the pertinent fields in bold, far too many for me to edit the whole list but it runs right down the page.
Which of these reports are fake news?

Virginia, where the CSA had its capital in Richmond, has the most Confederate monuments of any U.S. state. A March 2020 change in the law of Virginia had already essentially repealed the statute preventing removal of historical monuments, effective from July 1, 2020. This change became possible when voters, after electing the Democrat Ralph Northam as Governor in 2017, gave the Democrats control of both houses of the Virginia General Assembly from January 2020, for the first time in a generation.[109]
