Hello Folks

Cheers

Most european cartridges are named (diameter of bullet) and (lenght of case) Like 7X57 or 6.5 X 55.
In North America when a new round is made from an old round by necking the case up or down the name is usually (bullet diameter) and Cartridge case it is based on) Like 25/06 and 7mm-08 and .22/250.
Why in Aus. do you call this wildcat a 303/25 instead of a .25/303?
Just curious.

GreybeardBushmanFollowing our English forefathers, I guess.
Don't they put the original calibre then what it is necked to? .450/400 Jeffry 3", for example.

It's just because we're on the opposite side of the world.

rugeruserTentman,
if all else fails, try Ray Jansa of Jansa Firearms..
http://www.geko.net.au/~jansa/He's a really helpful bloke, and sells Simplex dies...
If he hasn't got 'em, he'll tell you where to get 'em.
Duffy,
as Darwinmauser says, we're on the opposite side of the world, so we see things a bit different, but then again, we didn't name a whole range of 22 cals thus:
22 Hornet, 218 Bee, 219 Wasp, 219 Zipper, 221 Fireball, 222 Rem, 223 Rem, 223 WSSM, 220 Swift, 224 WM, - which all have a .224 diameter bore...
Hehehe... no harm done... it just highlights the lack of logic in nomenclature...
