Distributors in Aus
I don't know that this will get a heap of response.

BUT, does anyone have any knowledge of importers into Aus who are friendly to newly established, small gun dealers.

One has been great but a couple of the others don't want to talk unless you are well established and a "known" dealer. From what I hear among the gun nuts I know, I ain't the only one with a hassle with establishing accounts with importers.

Once you are established, its obviously a very different kettle of fish.

And I can see it quite clearly from the importers (distributors) point of view.

I live in hope.

GBB ,
I have a friend who has been in the game for 10 years but is still a small dealer . He deals with Nioa , Olin , Acacia Imports , Wesfire etc.
Beretta won't touch him unless he puts in $10K of stock as I understand it but haven't heard him say the same about others . There is absolutely no doubt that some of the larger dealers get better discounts for large orders .

The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.

GBB,
Just a thought ... we badly/desperately need an Australian distributor for MidwayUSA ... and I dont think they'll insist on a shop front. Someone that can facilitate the export/import from them could make a killing (if they let people know they were operating!) as I recently had to go via a 3rd party to import action/nut wrenchs for Savage actions ... which are items that dont require permits Roll Eyes Likewise headspace guages and other small items that aren't lots of $$$ but Midway wont send Os. Midway has a tonne of equipment including A&B barrels that I think could be very price competitive over here. Likewise the cheaper synthetic stocks and accesories ...

Lots of people seem to also be buying Redding dies and equipment but not from the official distributor (too greedy) but rather small businesses prepared to place orders via internet once per month and NOT charge a fortune.
Cheers...

its pretty cut throat out there....my contacts in the states have told me that people like graffs/midway etc etc will increasinly not send stuff out to australia , as the manufactures in the states like LEUPOLD have had pressure put on them from there australian importers/dealers....but if you have the contacts you can still get things quite a bit cheaper....as an example i just bought 5 sets of redding delux dies and some redding bushing dies on the redding delux dies it cost us about $75 aussie here they want $110
on scopes you can save $2-300 easily

Its amazing what can be achieved with a lot of ringing around to different gun shops and importers.

The future is looking a lot brighter than a week ago. There are more sources than I would have thought when you follow up small leads.

I think Shooters Wholesale will get any thing you want from Midway - think it was Midway
