muzzaWoodleigh Proprietory Cartridges
does anyone know anything about the new cartridges supposedly developed by Woodleigh . I have heard a whisper but nothing confirmed .
Have not heard of this but sounds interesting.
I know Geoff Mcdonald made one wildcat for himself, a 530/460 I think, and in the new woodleigh catalogue there is a guy wth a 530/505 gibbs as well.
Karl.
Karl,
Geoff's cartridge is a 530/505 Woodleigh, if your ever at Whitehorse Arms in Melb, there's a headstamped cartridge in the display cabinet. Looks fun!
Cheers...

muzzaCon - do you know the Woodleigh guys personally ? It would be nice to get a fired case or two , but I seem to have drawn a blank with the official approach via their website . Maybe the personal approach might work ?

Far CanelDoing a bit of a Kingsley Field Muzza?

27 March 2004, 10:42
muzzaMy relationship with Kingsley is purely platonic , despite the rumours . I will be at his place enroute to sunny Queersland next month , any specific requests...?
As a collector of wildcat cartridges , any new and particularly non American calibre is something to be chased . Sometimes the owners of the cartridges play hard-to-get so it makes for an interesting pursuit.
Any one else got wildcat cartridges they have developed themselves?
Muzza,
Nope don't know the Woodleigh people at all. At Whitehorse Arms you'll usually find Dave Manly running the shop. He has a 530/505 Woodleigh and keeps a case or two in the shop for interests sake

Bad Ass Wallace45 Eargersplitten Loudenboomer - 44 mag fireformed to 45 Long Colt (oops)
I'll just bring my bullet boxes up to the pub mate & you can have what you want including that 45/120

muzzaCon , do you go into this Whitehorse Arms often ? Like often enough to ask if I can buy two or three fired cases ( or cases with a seated projectile would be nice , but no primer or powder ) . I cant remember the last time I was in Melbourne , have to be five years ago at least . My visits in the last few years have been through either Sydney or Brisbane .
BAW - we need to make a firm day and venue for getting together. I appreciate that work day nights are a pain in the rear , but I only have six days in Oz and three of those I am not available ( Fri, Sat , Sun ). And I need to work a deal with Shaun-with-the-possum-on-his-head over his .222R cases and assorted crap .And it is all only a month away

Bad Ass WallaceI work 70-80hrs/week for myself & if I can't have a an arvo off once every 6 years then the customers can go and get stuffed!
That means it's gonna be a Kilkivan counter tea at the pub mon or tues!

NitroXIf Woodleigh can finance, market and distribute their own cartridges at a competitive price, sounds like a great idea.
28 March 2004, 10:23
muzzaNitroX - according to the nice lady at Woodleigh they have made custom rifles for themselves and a friend and the cartridges are not available for sale .....I guess they arent in the cartridge business and dont want to go that way .

Muzza,
I'm visiting Whitehorse Arms over Easter and will chat to Dave. I've already tried to buy an example ... fat chance! BUT... the cases were headstamped, I'll ask where the cases came from, as I've got a sneaking suspicion they may have been Bertram brass??? I'll be talking to Bruce Bertram about his projectiles in the coming weeks, I'll ask him then.
Cheers...
