First off, this deer was out of velvet, and past the rut when he died.

As some know, I raise Red Deer in Texas. I had a Stag that was 4.5 years old and had the thickest, palmated antlers I have ever seen on a Stag. (forgot to take a picture, but will add one some day)

He was killed by another Red during the roar. Found him belly up in the pond.

I cut his head off and tied it to a tree in the pond to let the crawdads do their work. This weekend I pulled it out, clean as it can be. I took it to town and powerwashed the mud and green slime off it.

That is when I noticed it.

Blood oozing from the top of his antlers. At first, I paid little attention to it. then I noticed there was quite a bit, so I hung it upsidedown and watch as blood dripped from the antlers for hours.

Took it to the taxidermist and he said he had never seen anything like it with a deer in hard antler.

The blood had stopped dripping, so he took a small drill bit and drilled into the area the blood had come from, and it started running again.

Anyone ever see this? Especially with a deer that has been in hard antler for well over a month.
