Kangaroo have... FEATHERS?????

Looks like emu feathers to me and they can't fly either.

There is a scene in an old movie I think it was called "The Light Horsemen", where a Turkish General and Turkish and German officers are discussing Australian troops being sent to Palestine and Egypt. It used to be shown every ANZAC day but the PC crowd at TV stations don't bother anymore. The enemy officers hold up a Light Horse slouch hat with feathers and laugh at it saying "what sort of troops would wear these?". In the movie the Light Horse go on to rout the Turksih forces in Palestine decisively.

The Australian cavalry in WW1 in Palestine were described after these battles as the "best cavalry of modern times".

Doc1972,

I have seen WW2 era pics of Australian soldiers some wearing the hats brim up and some wearing it down. Is this dictated by regimental custom at all?

When worn brim down, how was the cap badge worn?

Regards,

Pete
