muzzaI have never been there but I beleive it is a pretty expensive place to visit, due to most evrything being imported from France.
Aparently it is more French than France due to the locals retaining the French culture to the nth degree but it has miles of beach , and the diving and fishing is supposed to be excellant. Plus you can rent a vhicle and go sightseeing - although the whole island isnt particularly big.
Or just plain blob out in a deck chair poolside with a beer.....

HamishGidday jdollar,
You could always go poached egg spotting on the beach, also called playing spot the dot.

Matt GrahamSorry I couldnt help with the scuba diving and I havent had a chance to explore the fishing yet either BUT, like Hamish, I can definitely vouch for the scenery on the Noumea beaches...

NitroXIs there turkey hunting there as well, or am I mistaken?
Most tourists go there for a sun and beach holiday.
I'm pretty sure mainstream tourist agencies could help out with diving, fishing holidays.
Something different might also be big game fishing for marlin, tuna and deep snapper.

i take it that topless sunbathing is common there-glad the wife is staying home. this may just turn out to be the most interesting "hunting" trip i have ever taken!
