GreybeardBushmanBakes and Gary Hall - pig story
I normally wouldn't go recommending someone buy a magazine but the latest issue of Sporting Shooter has a great story by Gary in it about one of their hunts.Well written, great photos. the kind that makes you wish the next hunting holiday was here already.
Good story too about a Sambar Hunt; nice head mount too.
Uncle Nick has an interesting story about some home made hunting tools, a couple gave me an idea.
Some "Sporting shooter" magazines have not really been up to the standard we'd all like of local productions but this one is worth the money.
I wonder whether Yaffa Publishing will give me a present for the promo?

WizI have to agree GBB, I have had the pleasure of hunting with the Hall lads on numerous occasions and Bakesy' the once. Great company and good times.
Keep an eye out for the story of Gary and Cyclone's visit to Pine Creek and the days hunting

GreybeardBushmanJust browsing the mag again.
Gary sure has one mean pig dog in one pic- Peggy. I wouldn't imagine just what it could do to a monster pig

WizA couple of pics of Peggy and Nip at Garys request... I will let him fill in the details.

BakesPeggy has since "gone the journey" as Gary says. Bitten by a snake. The other JR Nip, got a bad bite from a sow that tore his muzzle from his skull. He's all healled up and hunting just as hard. They are a strange sort of pig dog but little peggy has found a lot of pigs in her day. She is always on the go and when she come's across a big boar and starts barking the pig isnt threatened. They just stand there thinking.."Is this it?" Thats when they get smashed by the bigger dogs or shot

Oh and don't believe the bit about the 300 meter shot. That was a bit of tounge in check by Gary......it was more like 280 meters

WizYup, Sadly Peggy has gone the journey and Nip now has a new nickname courtesy of the permanent sneer . "Nip Elvis" suits him nicely...
If I recall that 280 metre shot was called as a "missed by a mile" until you blokes found it piled up in the dirt
