SouthWestland Redstag roar - pics
A few pics from our recent trip down to Haast for the SouthWestland Redstag roar.
We were the 4th party in this block so most of the easy ones were taken, but luckily the weather was pretty good and we had a few roaring stags, but didn't see anything of substance. We managed a hind and a smallish sixpointer.
The shit weather arrived on Thursday and we flew out on Friday - just in time by the looks of it - as its still pissing down 5 days later and by now those tranquil rivers will be raging torrents of mud.

and a few vids of the flight in & out

That logpile shows how much the river can change. Any trout seen?

Trout? That green water has incredible clarity, beautiful! I was wondering the same thing about the fishing,do you ever take a handline and a few hooks with you into those places?

I had a go with the flyrod on Tuesday but came up blank - guess this was just not my trip :-)

Here are some clips of Per on a trip we did last year, North Island with the bow, the flyrods were more effective on that trip :-)
