Dog Training ...
So, it was hard but I decided to get a Viszla pup instead of .204 - by god that was a hard decision.

Anyway, the pup is not arriving for a while yet, but can anyone recommend any good books or DVDs on the subject of dog training, particularly with a hunting slant?

Off topic, but I looked at a beautiful farmhouse for sale yesterday. Smack bang in the middle of the wheatfields (stubble of the future ...), tree stands crying out 'fox den' within half a km, good water access - the whole deal. House was great, obviously location is tops. The lady's verdict; "I would go crazy out here". I'm calling on the collective wisdom of AR members here; what does one do to control one's woman in these situation, and emerge connected to one's nuts? Confused

Obviously I've lost this one,, but it sure would be good to know for the next time these opportunities pop up ... Big Grin

Check out the back of "feathers and fur" magazine. Start basic obedience at home but I would then join a gundog club.

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Can you control them?

I have found the best thing to do is simply apologise in advance, and wait for the storm to blow over.

BTW. It seems that "Do whatever you want" doesn't actually mean that... Eeker

Cheers, Dave.

i've always worked on the theory that it is easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission.
Bakes (or Bakette, if applicable),did all go well with the knife?

jimbob,
Excellent news on the pup!!! PM me your postal adress and if you cover postage I can send you a book or two ... just general beginning stuff. Books be damned ... NOTHING trains a dog better than birds. More birds, better the dog. I just got notice the quail are in locally ... 5MO Brittany is going to go play with them clap

As for the farmlet ... prices are going to plummet as the dry continues, lots of farmlets for sale around me at the moment. If the farmhouse isn't too far a drive (under 30min) from your missus' place of work, then maybe its a good mental rehabilitation place? Nothing beats walking our 30acres with 3 Britts in tow after a BAD day!! Add a shotgun and some starlings and your ready for the next day.
Cheers...

Alls good Rob. Still in a fair bit of pain but I'm dosing myself up on panadine forte.
