As the guys who have visited lately may be able to tell you, I've been saying that they have been here a week or two too early too see pigs in daylight. Well the switch has now flicked, the sows have dropped their litters, and are out and hogging again, and of course the boars follow.
I've had some interesting stalking, and some frustration. This first pic, you can't see me, but I'm only 5 meters from the pig closest too the fence. The fence stopped my arrow.
Last night I took our worker out to try and get her, her first animal. Of course we see a really good boar, 150 +, but he made it to safety as he chased a sow before we could close the distance. She got her animal later, but we forgot the camera.
With that in mind I got up early to see if I could find the big guy. Nothing doing, but a consolation prize of an old nanny that was sitting on a steep piece catching the first sun. I had not much to shoot at,and it was a steep down hill shot, but I needed to push my shots a bit and was rewarded with a great hit. The arrow may be slow, but I was pleased to see it punch right through the shoulder blade and out the brisket.
Now the weird one. As I walked home, a long long way from the bush, I walked past a cow that died 2 weeks ago. Suddenly she tried to stand up!!!!! WTF I lept sideways, I admit it freaked me out, Zombie freaken cows!
when I focused on her again this is what I saw.
It was a mission releasing her, I had to cut her out, and after wards I had a 100lb pissed pig chasing me around a flat paddock, until I warned her that i had a sharpe knife and if she carried on like that i would use it. Finally she got the idea.
That's funny.
