Tropical camping and hunting
Gents,
Whats your favoured form of clothing for hunting or camping in the really hot and thick country. Whether it be QLD level rainforest, the cape, swamps, outback or Africa. Generally anything that relates to 35c(95F)+temps, sweating shirts out in the first hour, and wear and tear from the environment Smiler

I wear an Akubra hat, but that isn't the best option. Rabbits aren't tropical. I believe I'll soon replace it with a straw cowboy hat.

Bakes
I used to wear old ex mil JG pants (the ones with the button fly) with the legs cut off just under the leg pockets. Bike pants under that for any sweaty chaffing. T shirt and ex mil boonie hat. On my feet I'd wear my issue boots and gaiters.

Or my work cloths Wink

And a camel Bak. There were days when you couldn't drink enough fluids.

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

G'Day Fella's,

Karl, if your not used to the sun on your skin, wear light long sleeved shirts and trousers, made from cotton fabric, and a wide brimmed hat!
I have a wide brimmed hat made of canvas, which has the upright crown section, made of "Shade Cloth" material, which is cool and breaths well in hot conditions!
Take a pair or two of short sleeved shirts and shorts with you but ones with belt loops.

Hope that helps

Doh!

In India I made sure I had adequate dry underwear, socks and towels. This was absolutely essential. All the rest is pure convenience & personal preference.

I always carried anti fungal cream like Micronezole.

In really wet hot areas rifles rust very quickly & bores may need to be cleaned and oiled daily. Here in NZ we can leave the rifle bore after a few shots for months and you get no rusting. One wipe with Breakfree seems to enough here.

Good cotton or light wool fabrics are the go. Hat wise in the sun you do not want the top of your head in contact with the top of the hat.

In Aust. I use Blackfoot cammo good cammo but more importantly it is very comfortable. Like Bakes I use to use the old JG but have worn all but my last pair of pants out.
