sheephunterabSad to be Leaving
Just wrapping up a hunt with Wildside Hunting Safaris on the North Island and we are definitely in no hurry to get home. New Zealand never disappoints and even after dumping 8" of snow on us we had a great hunt for red stag, fallow, sambar and sika. Will get some pictures and a full report up in a few days when we get home. We will definitely be back.

sheephunterabThanks! It was our second trip to NZ and definitely won't be our last. Off to OZ next month so we are very excited about that.

sheephunterabOne of two dead stags we found tangled in the vines. A tough way to go.

Rule 303Sheephunter, looks like you had a great time and some good trophies. The Fellow has an excellent set of antlers.
Nice Sambar

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

sheephunterabIt was only the third sambar stag I'd ever seen in my life...we saw two others the previous day and earlier that day but he sure looked good to me. I can see how hunting them could become very addictive. They are like 500 pound whitetails!

Huge Fallow Deer!

sambarman338They're all great animals, esp. the sambar. Yes, they occur to us in Australia to be just as hard to get as whitetail, as ours are almost always in thick bush.
