Dumb Q on the Buffalo in Aussie?

I'm assuming there is so much culling going on in Australia is because they (the Buff, donkeys, camels, etc) don't have any natural predators… Why doesn't the Australia govt release some medium sized predators (leopards or maybe cougar)?

Then us foreigners could come over and spend our yankee dollars shooting DG with you awesome aussie's!

Seems it might balance out your ecosystem...

Nice idea but it doesnt work that way. It is hard enough to convince them to let anyone else shoot them, they would rather spend taxpayers money for 'professionals' in helicopterss to do it. Same deal with the camels...

No kidding the same stupide behavior by lots of governments world wide.

Can't be giving out any reasons to own guns or justifying hunting you know.

Rather spend millions the do any of that.

From what I've seen n read though. There's donkeys, brumbies/aka: horses, goats, pigs, water buff, scrub bulls and some other things I'm not sure of.
Check out Stradlings post on his trip this yr culling buff's. 84 in 5 days. Sounded like he just about smoked his barrel up doing it.

LegioX any feral(introduced)animal can be hunted if you have legal access to a property to hunt them either with an outfitter or you personally know the land owner OR in some states you can hunt on state forrest, national parks etc.

Species we have include

Rabbit
Hare
Feral house cat
Feral dog
Dingo
goat
pig
six species of deer
Feral horse
Donley
Scrub bulls
Buff
Bantang
Oh and Ducks and Magpie geese in some states and the Northern Territory.

Unless you go with an outfitter who is managing his area we don't have any limits on numbers you can shoot.

Thanks for the info Bakes, there's a good chance I may work as an expat in Aus for 3-5 yrs, it'd be nice to do a bit of hunting while there.
Although it sounds like importing or buying a firearm will take some education on my part.

Tigers. Every where else they don't have the prey base.
So Australia would be perfect place for release.
Few leopards will do as well. Problem solved and you make shit load of money on those hunts.

On these ranches: re: cattle stations.
Do they raise commericial cattle, such as white face,or others?

OR just gain income thru you guide's and the meat production from the culling of the various feral animals. I'd bet what you charge "us" to come over and do the shooting doesn't all go into your own pocket. Surely a portion of such income goes to the owners of the property. Right or wrong?

What do "they" raise as their primary income source?

George, sorry I missed this before. If you are talking about the cattle stations in the north theyy are almost exclusively Brahman cattle bred and raised for the Asian live export market. There are some properties that have other agriculture (orchard, horticulture, etc) but they are relatively small and few.

With the culling we pay a daily rate to the landowners, in lieu of fees for the culled animals. Trophy fees for buffalo and scrub bulls.

Bet there's no culling of those "sacred cattle". They're the one's that need to be shot!! We raised a herd of 'em, I know how they are.
