South Island Roar Hunt
Who do you recommend and why to hunt the S. Island for tahr, chamois and stag? Yes, at 67 I have no problem at all with a helicopter drop off and do not believe mountain climbing a prerequisite for being a hunter! Looking for 2012/13 Mid April or so.

Thanks.

TP's examples are both top choices who will do you proud.
You should be able to find a heli drop off that dosn't cross any ethical boundary's, But to a large extent, The core experience of hunting alpine game and being a hunter in that instance, is a prerequisite of pushing yourself, and climbing mountains.

Thanks guys. Just back from a tahr hunt. Awesome wx right now and plenty of bulls about. We took 2 12inch plus bulls amongst other things.
Only 6 more sleeps until the opening of duck season.

We are just wrapping up a hunt with Gerald and Sue Telford right now. It's been an awesome experience.

Beauty pics, that second bull has a lot of character in his horns, a real nice shape, and I'd say they are closer to 13 than 12.
I'd have deffinatly not given a second thought on pulling the trigger anyway.
Is there a hunt report comming?

Dear Muygrande

Peter chamberland.

Have hunted a few times with him and some other NZ outfitters.

Peter work out best. Just look for details on the net, do not have on hand.

He will take care of every thing.

Great trophies. I agree that the second tahr looks more like 13". Beautiful Fallow buck too. The spotted ones are my favourit. Is that lake Wanaka or Tekapo in the background? Gerald & Sue are very good indeed.

Great pics of the Telford hunt. Thanks for sharing as if I needed the added pressure of seeing the lovely country in those pics.
