HendrikNZI had a lot of fun in 2009, learned a lot and was mildly successful. Got to take a few mates on their 1st hunts in NZ, which was great. I'd like to do more of that.

gryphon1Taking this pic of both sambar and red stags in velvet on the same patch... wild and unique!
Knocking this wise old stag after my third season hunting him from when I first saw and photographed him. 7 MM R 150 gr Winchester factory PP.
Getting in tight on this sambar spikey was truly satisfying to me as the deer pic`s take quite some effort to capture.
Getting this sambar hind in tight amongst the berries was a delight. We dont have to shoot them to enjoy them eh!
A few other sambar stick in my mind also.

Taking my young Nephew out to shoot his first deer. Then skinning it together. Butchering all the meat. Making Pate from the liver. Boiling the tongue. And eating the heart. tehn helping cure his skin, as a trophy and for a memory I doubt he'll ever forget.
Now the scheming little bugger is trading his venison for faours all over the place.
I beleive a seed has been sown, and another young hunter is emerging. Hopefully it will get him off the street and help him stay out of trouble.

My own personal hunting highlights from 09.
1/. Sambar Stag: Challenging Backpack hunt over in Victoria. Really enjoyed it.
2/. An awesome adventure hunting Tur in Azerbaijan. A do it yourself type hunt up in the beautiful Caucus Mountains:
Has been a great year, and got plenty planned for 2010. Starting this week with a Mule Deer hunt in Sonora (Mexico)
