Nigel get back into your cave mate!

Funny.... the TAB stats show that most of the money is now on the Aussies!
I do not think the Aussies have it in them to produce such a game 2 weeks in a row.
Go the all Blacks!

I think the quality of your replacement half is unrealistically affecting the
perceptions of a lot of people placing bets.
Besides TAB odds are never a true measure of chance of winning , they are just the odds creating a balanced book within the volume of bets laid , & wager volume is influenced by a lot of things well beyond relative performance.
ie
if there were 4 times more NZ'ers laying bets the TAB odds would be different , but the chances of who could win or lose on the paddock, haven't changed at all.
SportsBet etc are more realistic win-lose odds than a TAB.

BakesEven my little Kiwi work mate is backing a Wallaby/Wales final.

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Matt GrahamWhat did you call the Springboks Nigel??? The 'dark horses' of the tournament ... right??

I won a nice $100 on the match!!
I didnt see the match, as I was on the road from the NT

hoping to catch a replay, now I am home ....
I was actually heading down the Stuart Highway, toward Renner Springs (a VERY remote place in the desert, for those who dont know it), while the game was on and I saw some signs suggesting to stop at Renner Springs Roadhouse and watch the RWC on the Big Screen.... I couldnt believe my luck!!! My boy and I stopped and went inside and the bloody mob was sitting there watching the fucking car races!!! Heathens!! I didnt say a word just turned and stormed out!!!!
I dont want to get my hopes up though for next weekend - and Australia will most certainly NOT want to be the favourite for that game OR the tournament - New Zealand, no matter what team they field on the day will be bloody hard to beat, at home, at their own tournament. If Australia beats them it will be a miracle and will defy history, statistics AND logic!!!

And The Eden Park hoodoo.
I am not getting my hopes up either. If we win, we will have had to play bloody well even if the Kiwis play badly, if not, 4 years time !!!
Can't believe the Roadhouse, although I suppose Bathurst probably has more of a cult following in this country !!!

I hope they get onto it.

500NI like this bit from the smh article re McGaw
"He had a pin surgically inserted into the foot and played the second half of the Super Rugby season this year, but the foot has continued to cause problems."
I can understand a screw (pin) can close up a fracture but playing / running on it ?
Maybe medical technology has moved on from when I had my leg pieced back together with 2 x 7 inch titanium screws but I can't see how it can still heal.
Oh well.
.
12 October 2011, 18:34
Matt GrahamMedicine, surgery and recovery times especially, moves ahead in leaps and bounds.... My father-in-law had half of his bowel removed a few months back and seven days later he was out driving his landcruiser around!!
I read today both teams playing up their own injuries and prospects of player omissions ... trying to appear the underdog and to mess with the other teams preparation.

If Macaw was to actually miss this weekends game I will eat a Gilbert rugby ball!!!

gryphon1I`m ordering one just in case Matty!
Go Aussies! Have you noted how quiet our En Zed bro`s have been lately? Of course they are fearful the Aus boys will do em in the semi...now if they do win against us which btw they have all the right credentials and HG advantage to do so the NZ boys will be suddenly posting at a mile a minute...god bless them!

Yes, I have noticed.
I think they are worried as they have everything to lose.
NZ will never live it down if the Aussies beat them this weekend.

gryphon1Whereas we are such a benevolent mob that we don't mind them having a win now and then.
No shame in losing t the mighty AB`s eh!

I don't know about that, we've been losing to them on a regular basis for the last few years, except at the Rugby World Cup.
If we win this weekend, it will be against the grain of a good All Black side, Eden park Hoodoo (which I just think is home ground advantage wherever it is).
The good part for us is that we seem to win against NZ at the RWC.
Either way, it should be a terrific match and I am looking forward to it.
On a separate note, I see the Kiwi's are getting stuck right into the NZ Ref who was refereeing the Aust - Boks match. 60,000 people have signed a petition saying he should never ref a Rugby match again !!!!!!!
I guess they are pissed off that Aust got through !!!! LOL

How many times have Australia played NZ at recent RWC's???
13 October 2011, 03:18
500N2003 was the last.
My mistake.
.
13 October 2011, 04:24
Matt GrahamI think they have only met a couple times before at RWC's - 1991, 2003 and now this year. I guess that IS a 100% record though eh!!

Yes, you are correct.
What I was trying to refer to was the NZ choking in general at the RWC and I mixed up the whole thing.

gryphon1Righteo the Kiwi`s are a bit quiet on this BUT, even though we are the underdogs I am willing to put up a bet on the Wallabies to beat the All Black`s in their next rugby match.
The bet being a weeks free range sambar deer hunting with me for an equiv hunt in NZ on wild free range whatever you have!
Proper game that is IE deer!
C`mon Kiwi`s,lets have a go at it!

NakihunterHello, anybody home?!!
This Aussie team is has the typical mongrel Aussie attitude but no really great players. Don't get me wrong, that Aussie mongrel attitude is 80% of their winning in any sport.
This team will be a great tem in 4 years time - guys like Horwill, Beal, O'Conner, Ginnia, Ione & Pocock will be at their peak then. Right now they are very good players with great potential but not the greatest of experience in tight games. In other words they are not in the same league yet compared to the 1999 & 2003 squads with Eals, Gregan, Larkham, Smith, Sharpe, Mortlock, Burke etc.
The only real weakness in this Wallaby team is actually the front row. Lack of experience there cannot be protected or covered for in the tight, scrums etc.
"When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

500NNaki
I agree and would even go so far as to say that
even if this team gets to the final / wins the world cup, I think they still have a long way to go to get anywhere near the teams of Eals, Gregan and before that. BTW - You left out Campese.
did you read the article in the NZ Herald re the Aussie Team and Quade not being liked. Interesting reading.
Now Muzza, no fox shooting if the Kiwis win on the weekend !!!
In regards to "You lot got nothing better to do????", no we haven't because you lot are doing all the worrying
so that leaves nothing for us to do

If we win, you'll be doing a bit of this

come Monday !!! LOL

Yep, some teams do achieve "goals" before their time, ie Hawthorn AFL a couple of years ago, the Baby Bombers.
Since 2007, the lowest of the low, Deans has been rebuilding and up until maybe the last year didn't achieve much. I think if they win this, it will be the START, not the final wind of a team that has the potential to go on to bigger and better things.
Accept mediocrity if you want but one (hopeful) WC does not make a great team.
That's why Tennis and other comps including Rugby have Grand Slams and those teams
that have won them are still talked about.

Nothing new there ..............Campese was not "liked" in his first couple of seasons in the Wallabies either.
............until he settled into being part of the 'team', and less of an individual, trying to be the hero every time he got his hands on the ball.
even to the end of his career there were campese lovers & campese haters...........there were just a lot less haters towards the end.
I thought Muzza must have ghostwritten the Herald article..........same style.

13 October 2011, 14:44
500NYes, I remember when Campese started. I put him in the same category as Jonah Lomu, a VG Rugby player with bursts of brilliance, just of a different style.

I think he is out now.
