Yeah I'd like one..............my first classy double

416SWPC I think calling a Baikal classing might be streching it.

GreybeardBushmanThrow one in here.
The new guns coming out of Turkey called "Pointer" here are far better in quality than the Baikal (Russia) or Boito (Brazil) as far as the three under/overs I have seen.
Not in the same class as our usual guns but for about $890, I think they are value for the up-and-coming and new shooter.
And they come with five chokes and case. Good value when compared to the two B's. (Boito, Baikal)

GreybeardBushmanErrrr,
Anyone who calls a Baikal "classy" should be sent to the back of the room.

416SWWell I've gone and done it now and put a deposit on one.
GBB
We are talking rifles here, do pointer make rifles?
The sxs looked better finished than the shotguns I've seen.

NitroXAt A$1450 compared to the original US$550 that was being promoted they are quite a bit more expensive here (as expected!). Might still be fun however.
BTW one can source a good second hand Tikka or Valmet U/O double rifle in calibres such as .30-06 or 9.3x74R for around $1200 to $1600 in the USA.

I know. i was just thinking about the quality of their shotguns that I had seen.

scruffyYo! I got me one of the SxS Baikal 30-06 rifles and intend to whack a few mulie does and maybe a whitetail in November. I quite like it and don't think that it is a poor looking rifle at all ... It certainly doesn't look like their o/u rifles ..

I had a high end gunsmith in British Columbia install a brass bead and mill out the rear sight to make it look like the 'v' found on those express sighting combos ... I am very confident that if I can sneak up to a deer at 75 yards the beast is toast !! I had intended to take it to Namibia this past August and shoot a wartie but I got sick ..

and only made it half way and returned .. Next year, however .. It is a fun rifle .. cost me $1,200 Canadian .. (I also am waiting for the 45/70 but figured a bird in the hand ....)

NitroXFrom a distance that doesn't look too bad at all.
I see it is scoped. What sort of accuracy are you getting from it? What loads is it regulated for? Are the barrels adjusatable for regulation? I assume the barrels are not soldered together. Do they have a strip of rubber (or whatever) between them as I think was reported?
Thanks.

416SWHaven't shot it yet, will shoot it long weekend.
Doesn't say what load other than reg for 10.9gram bullet.
Yes regulation is adjustable just in front of sling swivel is adjusting nut between barrels. manual says one barrel is floating. unsure what is between them if anything other than rib like thin covering - thought I would shoot it and see how it went before I would think about pulling it appart.
can do better pics next week if you like - these were done with phone camera.
butt stock overall is a little short, is long in pistol grip.
Barrel crowns could be better, is it possible to recrown a double?

No, they don't. At least not in 45/70. Cheers
