I have to agree. There is a lot more at stake here than political correctness. There is also the impact on the children who were molested.

receiving a 15 month prison sentence.

If those guys and a whole load of others at the BBC, didnt know what was going on at the BBC, all those yrs,
then Ill be a monkeys uncle.

A number of Pedophiles I gather would gladly risk molesting loads of children for 20yrs or more,
if they are only going to receive a 15 month prison term.
I wonder what Harris will receive in prison time?

The thing that bothers me is what evidence do they have?

And as mentioned above, accusing someone of doing something wrong 30 years ago when the norms were different is also sad to see.

Reading the British papers now show an enormous amount of crimes that are going on right now and the judges are passing out extremely lenient sentences.

I lived in England in the 60's and 70's, and the things one could get away with then are considered a crime today??!!

Rolf came to our school when I lived in Malaysia and did a big mural in my school in Canberra. I liked him. It is sad to see but IF he is found guilty then he does deserve everything he gets as far as I'm concerned.

A woman was on Today Tonight last night saying that she saw him in a bath with kids and she was that disgusted by it that she spat on him. If she was that disgusted why didn't she come forward before, why wait 30 years?

I don't keep up with British politics and I don't know who Rolf Harris is, are you sure that he's not a Catholic Priest?

THats a fair question.
However, The 14yo Oz girl who was repeatedly molested by Harris [in 1986] when she visited England with a theatre group,
said she wanted to report it, but didnt, because thought no one would believe her.
SHe is now a married mother working in a Bank,and decided to also come forward after hearing all the new allegations.

Women who decades ago were beaten by their husbands, or raped by someone, often didnt come forward, simply cause the system
did not give much belief or support to them.
Just look how the military still treats[alienates,ostracises] military women who report having have raped by fellow military colleagues.

I think that Trax has it absolutely correct. Back in the 50's and 60's I am sure that such instances went unreported, in part because no one believed children. The adult was always right. I think we have to let the British justice system work through.

sexual mores for ADULTS were quite a bit different in the 60's and 70's. but the definition of child molestation hasn't changed!!! if the bastard is found guilty, no punishment is too harsh. Jimmy Saville is just lucky he died before his crimes saw the light of day
