GreybeardBushmanIs it a bit slow here at present??
This is the lowest level of activity i have ever seen here.
Maybe every one is too busy hunting, shooting and reloading........ or just elsewhere

JALYep, with our good weather we can get at it alot. And most are doers rather than writers.
Then. . . Well I often look down the topics,
Yawn, and move on. Now that's not a criticism, just how it is.
Then (here's where it may get interesting) there are a fair few lurkers that come out of the woodwork, want to push their own opinions with insults, instead of reasoned and good humored banter. IE no one understands me.

Then there is my total bordom with the average hunting story. Jees, don't we all do it. What't to tell. Unless your a really good writer, the best of hunts/shoots can be murdered. I'm now just wondering if this site shouldn't be scrapped.

So, you old coot, what do you want to talk about?

02 September 2006, 18:05
BakesYep it has been slow. Apart from my last hunt with Gary I've done bugger all! Good news is that I'm back to normal shifts now. No more straight night shifts

HOWEVER, I'm off tomorrow for a course in Amberley QLD, going to learn to be a better dog handler

. I'm driving down and back as I have to clock up the K's on the car. I've got some spotties fitted (LightForce 240 blitz) and bought a fridge (Engle) and I'm all set. Taking the rods as I'll be stopping in to see the olds at Tin Can Bay and may do a spot of fishing.
------------------------------
A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

muzzaWell - Ive done some goat culling , a fallow hunt and shot a bunch of bunnies - but how many times can you tell about it . Its a bit like buying hunting mags - after a few years the stories are the same , just the names change .
Plus there doesnt seem to be any of the agressive types about at present either .
Maybe its just the natural progression of hunting forums ?

muzzaoops , bit of a raw nerve there maybe? If so then I apologise for raising your blood pressure beyond normal.
But I have to say - the tone of your private message to me was a little rough , given that I asked a fairly civil question in a polite manner . I guess the Victorian guys were right after all .
Heres the text of Gryphs pm to me if anyone is interested

Jesus Gryphon ... take a pill mate!!
03 September 2006, 15:00
gryphon1muzzlewump you purposely chose your words for the reaction and you got a very mild reaction in return, now you complain?,yes you are a sook and have been for many of your posts.
BTW i do follow your raw nerve line as hunting sambar with hounds is legit in Vic and is done by many thousands of hunters, from their fucking cars to get them into the bush....but of course as said previously your little line was a thinly veiled one of contempt. So now once again you are continuing in the same vein eh!I just knew there was something wrong with you when i saw THAT photo.Ah is it worth replying again? I dont think so as you are just another one of those keyboard hunters, arent you muzzy.I actually went back through your posts for some evidence that you actually use a rifle, still looking.
And listen if you can,you just broke the copyright rule of broadcasting personal mail on the fucking internet...understand? Maybe i will have to say it again nah why bother with a fool.Oops i better,PERSONAL MAIL IS JUST THAT.Expect more in the future
And you wizzy can go jump too, maybe into the same bath as your muzzy little mate.

BushchookNo wonder things are quiet here . Most of us have had a gutful of reading the hatemail.
The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.

GreybeardBushmanI think we should lay off the hate bit, too.
This site has had some great stuff in the past and many interesting threads.
04 September 2006, 09:39
lawndartWhat type of bunnies?
Cottontails?
We are loaded with jack rabbits around here this year. First time since 1983!
Bastards keep you in good trim with the shooting. They don't stand around and wait, that is for sure. I usually take the 22 Mag or .223 after them.
Three years ago a few farmers down in Nevada asked me to come on down and clean them out of their alfalfa crops. They were coming in from the west and south sides out of the sage brush and having quite a snack after dark. I went down and got after them three nights in a row. About 400 the first night, 200 the second night and maybe 50 the last go. Nothing back there since.
See, the same boring stories on the other side of the world.
I'm not sure why, but I enjoy culling best of all.

You just wait till you get down here, you will either run out of ammo or daylight before you run out of animals to shoot.

SmudgeThis innocuous post seemed to degenerate fairly quickly.
One definition of sook Ive seen is:
sook: kindly description of someone who is being silly, or behaving like a softy or scaredy cat. As in:- "you're being a sook"... "just a big sook" and so on... More often than not the phrase is used as a term of endearment.04 September 2006, 14:59
SmudgeGBB, a lot of the kiwis may be hanging out here:
http://www.fishnhunt.co.nz/issues/index.htmJAL, Ive been neither a doer nor a writer lately. All my guns are in bits getting done up. I guess no one will ever understand me and my addiction to taking guns apart and making them 'better'. I may have to go buy myself a new one just so I can get out hunting

Gryp, I guess by posting on this forum Im turning into one of those hated keyboard hunters too, I havent used a rifle in anger for a few months either.
This talk of shared baths, private messages and
photos, do I sense one of those internet romances developing

A Sook would be a kiwi that doesn't hunt in the rain. Rick 0311 would have said "a panty waister". . . whatever that is.

duggaboybuffget up him Gryphon, I undersand you ethics, not like the "pen" hunters from across the channel.
If only they could have the determination to hunt wild and free animals of sambar quality.....
I read between the lines the minute i read Muzza's post.
i think Muzza should be Muzzled. Every time there is a post of anything of quality the shit stirer has to put his 2cents in....
08 September 2006, 15:25
gryphon1yes DBB as i said above a thinly disguised put down and then the claim of innocence from the bloke...the saga has reached other places where i have read the shit there also. This muzzlewump is simply that "shit stirrer"

gryphon1here is a little snippet that was posted to me....unedited either. There has been plenty of back stabbing and here is one by none other than one of the members from here hmmm...a fella that didnt mind asking me q`s in pm`s previously etc
I was very embarrissed by Grypon's carrying on when I posted that thread. Some of the other vindictice comments in the Aussie vs Kiwi thing degrade all of those posting. 12 months age, most was just light hearted banter.
Now its down right wrong. Stuffing up what was a good site.
Muzza actually seems like a nice bloke in our correspondence. He knows a thig or two about hunting and rifles.
