Wildcating with a 303
Hi fellas.I am wanting to build a coyote rifle off a smle 303 #4.I want to be able to use the military mag with the rifle. This is the first time I have ever considered doing something like this.I have 2 of these rifles,1 is still mil-spec,the other 1 somebody had already sportered the stock on(wildcat this one).I don't know diddle about a 303 either except it looks neat as hell and I was told they can take beating an still shoot. What do ya'll suggest?

Don't waste your money. The wildcats used in Oz years ago were OK in their day as new rifles were too expensive.Milsurp .303 were plentifull and cheap($10-20).

25/.303 is/was a good round but is hampered by the weak rearlocking Lee Enfield action.Put in in a P14 and it rivals the great .257 Roberts.

Could always get creative, leave in in .303. Wink

Opps, should explain....this was an ex target rifle in .308(hence the odd magazine)It was once used for Fullbore(Highpower?) shooting.HTH

Yep .25/.303 sounds like an ideal "regular" wildcat.

Load it up with 87 gr HPs for coyotes.
