I have ordered a Norinco Lever Shottie

Appaerntly they have worked the bugs out and they work well...................won't be as good as my rem pumps I used to have

but with 5 in the mag and one up the spout should be alright for chasing pigs etc.

Who else is buying one, my mate has ordered one as well.

Yeah I know there only Norincos, but if it feeds,ejects and goes bang I will be happy.

what about if your in the back of the ute chasing stuff at 80km's per hour and the lever shottie is already loaded with the 6 shots ready to go ??

I know I could not shoot my U/O with six shots while in the back of the ute as quickly as this lever shottie.

With out getting it out of the safe number 52 I think. I did have number 2 but after I sold it as with any gun I sell I regretted the sale and I found number 52 luckily! What number is yours?

I thought seriously about one a few months ago but you hardly see them advertized in ANY of our gun magazines. Where should i look for a good deal on one?

I might ask our local dealer to price one too, when I see him next.

Six shots would certainly be handly at times?

It seemed pretty slick to me.

However when I held it it did make me want to wear cheap sunglasses, ride a Harley and say "I'll be baaack".

I am looking forward to handling one.

I don't know if the rumour was true but Little Johnny decided to ban pump action shotguns when he was deciding on the ones HE wanted banned because of the first Terminator movie.

After he had signed off on all our semi auto 22,s, centrefires and shotguns, he was supposed to have asked what gun the Terminator used in the film from a colleague that was with him (that was then more or less just out) . Colleague apparently said a pump shotgun so John said ban them too.

I should add a bit of personal detail here or people will think I am just venting.

Bill McGrath was Minister of Police here in Victoria. He said to me that it was the hardest thing he had ever done to stand up behind Little Johnny in Camberra and giving support to the ban.

He has said that he knew that he was abandoning his National Party support and that he was going to get out of politics as soon as "politically" adviseable after it. He also said to a group of us that it was a kick that the Nationals may not survive.

Our local members are incredibly aware of how hot the gun issue is around here. I think state and federally wise, they will be very cautious with new gun laws but they are only a little voice.

I know our local state member is incredibly aware of what he is playing with.

He said to me at the end of last year at our school shoot something like "The heat hasn't gone yet" and I replied that it wouldn't while those who had guns crushed lived and breathed.

And he said "I know".

But it is only one small voice.

$700-$800 I read somewhere,HPGS has a few coming.I think the list is full now.
The original 1887 action was built to take blackpowder.They are stong enough when made out of modern steels,just don't expect the heavy clunker to be quick and smooth.....it's not.HTH

My friend and I have picked up one each from the first shipment at Horsley Park, as the ones I had ordered at my local where not going to be in for another couple of months we wanted them for the middle of June, there was one left out of the first 40 after my mate and I got ours. I am looking forwards to it seeing as I am not allowed to own a pump or auto 12 g.

I handled one in my local gunshop they seem quite good very smooth actions the only thing I didn't like was the leather knuckle guard but that can come off

I put a deposit on one of the last two at QGE, the other is their display gun. Only $750. It is actually a 7 shooter, 5 in the mag, one on the carrier, one in the chamber. Can't wait to get amongst the piggies in the lignum, there is going to be chunks of flesh flying all over the place.

Also do you feel they will be durable despite the fact there Norinco Brand........................how many shots do you reckon one would get out them ??

reckon you would get 5000 rounds out of it or maybe more ??

It seems quite solid and well built. Not the usual eye catching machining marks etc the the Chinese stuff has. Blueing looks good and deep and it all seems to work quite well - no graunchy bits like I imagined although you really need to be 'positive' when cycling the thing. Practice will tell the story, but unless it is held to the shoulder real tight cycling the lever seems to want to make the butt slip down off the shoulder, so either technique will have to be worked on or a sticky but pad fitted.

As for service life - it looks pretty tough - but there sure is a lot of moving parts in that action. Maintainence will be interesting.

Hi Wall,

I rekon I might buy one of those cheap slip on recoil pads for mine to help with the slipping. I suppose it would have no more moving parts than a M92 .44 rem mag carbine or something similar.

I found some pics on the net last night of the bloke who supposedly got these shotguns made some bloke called coyote cap...................any way there where pics of him at the factory in china with the plant managers etc. so maybe he has specified they need to be made to a certain standard (no doubt he has). The same factory make a lot of repro 1897 pump shotguns that are used on the US CAS scene.

For what it's worth the looks have grown on me, ours should arrive at my local this week sometime, they had to come from Horsley park, we paid $775 each which I new was a tad dear so I got them to throw in a free gun bag each.

My mate is looking forwards to fireing some 1oz slugs through his.

The only ADI one that I saw must have been No1. The butt plate was a rubber thong (the one that goes on your foot), glued and carefully trimmed to shape with a Stanley Knife.

It worked pretty well (Ithink) but that recoil pad was all class!

The two I owned #2 and #52 have the replica Winchester steel buttplate. They work ok but you have to lever them with a "positive" motion as HiWall has stated

Coyote Cap is a name used by a CAS shooter and gunsmith. He was involved in setting up the manufacture of the 1897 replicas in China. He also does something called a "Drop Two" modification on them. Apparently what it does is with the magazine empty and the lever open, one can drop two shotshells in the port on the top and when the lever is closed one will chamber and one will go into the magazine. He's made quite a number of trips there (China) over the last couple of years to make sure they were done right.

I handled mine to night........................a lot smoother than I thought theyd be. The lever sort of springs open. My fancy leather thing was on wrong

Looking forwards to running some shells through it. Mine seemed finished quite well. My mates was smooth as well but his bead was slightly off centre but that will be an easy fix.

I still cannot help but wonder how well they will hold up over the long run. I can only hope it will be as good as a mates norinco .22 Brno copy.
That agricultural looking clunker has done well over the years, floating around in the back of his farm ute, among the star pickets and tools.

Ah well, I took the plunge and ordered one, anyway. Up yours John Howard!

Mine has arrived at the shop, a bit rough, but no worse than any other norinco I've seen.

It will hold 7 no dramas as well, going to be great for pigs in thick stuff etc.
