GreybeardBushmanBaikal s/s a real surprise
I read the article in the Australian Shooter and wasn't convinced so I went and tried to order 4 .223 as in the article.
They are all sold out and I put 4 on back order. Seeing as I couldn't get my first choice, I ordered a 308 and a 222. They surprised me in the quality of finish for centrefire selling under $350.
I took the .222 out shooting using a Hawke 4x 40 I also ordered from Parabelum Arms and I couldn't believe that it shot better than my Model 70 .222 that I have used and considered a favourite for 20 years.
A great little rifle

Out of the three shot groups I shot, I even got a ragged one hole. The worst group was 3.25" but I know I wasn't concentrating. Thats after sighting in.
The trigger is a bit to heavy for me.

GreybeardBushmanYou ain't the first to ask for one not listed in the Australian catalogue and I would be in heaven before you found the 45-70
I know there are other calibres made for the US market and I asked Chris/Mark?? (I'm getting worse remembering names) when he went to Russia a week or so ago to ask about one in particular but he is quite savvy with the Russian way of thinking and he thought there was stuff all chance of it.
I also asked to enquire about another .22 bolt repeater from Russia that will be competative with the Norinco "BRNO" copy but he mentioned TOZ so we'll see.

GG375I bought one - a .308 for my 12 year old - and it has been great. A bit tight to open for awhile and I got the trigger worked on but for $375 you couldn't ask for more.

At least what we can get it, is at a fair price and in (generally good supply). All the Kiwis I work with complain about the high prices and lack of supply. True?

TOP_PREDATORIt is a real problem trying to find any rifle chambered over 300 magnum.
As for prices,it pays to be loyal to one shop and you will get good deals.

GreybeardBushmanIt would be very interesting if I could buy them here at the present rate and sell them across the ditch. We would be all happy.
BTW, I have got a great mate here that teaches with me that is a Kiwi (by birth) but it all you blokes were the same, you could all come and live here (even in Murtoa) and the whole country would benifit. I know Muzza is a good bloke so you can make the move first across the big ditch........
And it is getting easier for some people to get Category C guns at last. Semi auto shotguns etc. When I got my Dealers Licence, I never applied for the Cat C, D, E (Cat E: I don't think I need an M60 at present) but the local District Firearms Officer suggested I should get the Cat C. because of the number of farmers who would be after them.

GreybeardBushmanAnd I can even sell a double Baikal in 223, 308 or 30-06 for about the $800-00 AUS
Combinations for about the same.
That could make some people cry

but cry my way if you like.
