ex military ammo in Mark X Mauser
I have just purchased a used Mark X mini mauser in 7.62 x 39 cal.

Is it safe to use chinese made military ammunition in this rifle ?

The main reason being I have some left over from the days when we could own & use semi autos.

I know that SKS & SKK both were chrome bored so they could consume the copper washed steel jacketed military ammunition without damaging the bore.

My mini Mauser however doesn`t appear to have the same chrome bore.

BTW, can anybody shed any light on where the mini Mausers are manufactured & any other information on them regarding quality, strength, accuracy etc.

Thanks in advance
Morton

Treat the Chinese stuff as corrosive; clean it the same day you use it, prefferrably after washing it out with hot water. The purpose of the chrome bore was to resist the effect of the corrosive ammo.

Check the bore. Some of the 7.62x39 barrels are .308.ie.Ruger Mini 14.

The CHICOM ammo will be .311/.312.

The rifle may have been made by Zastava in Yugo-land.Remington have just labeled some under their banner, check their cattledog.

Great little rifle, not as well finished as some, but fine to use.
