Idaho SharpshooterJonD,
that's funnier than you think...Savages OWN all of the factory class records, and most of the wins in factory class. With factory barrels and the accu-trigger they easily stay under moa out to 500/600 yards. I've got a 112BVSS 7 mag rechambered to 7STW that holds the X-ring consistently.

Paul from nzi personally think HS Precision is over priced. for the money you spend you could have a complete custom rifle built.

Idaho Sharpshooter700,
if your ego permits it, why not start on a budget rifle and put the $$$ into glass? Savage 112BVSS in 300WM and a good scope. There are a lot of Savages out there in factory class doing very well.

Check out the latest Shooting Times with a Savage heavy 30" barrel that shot a .850" group at 500 yards for only $1200 retail

30378The 30/378 Weatherby with 200gr SMKs will get ya as far as ya want to go.......and then some.
I second the Army Aviator advice . Savage is an excellent choice . I love my .308 I also like my money !. I'm no fool I'll never be David Tubbs so why buy into the Ferrari circle when I know that I'll be driving my 4 wheel SUV home !!!!!. Some one else said spend it on Glass another Wise decision !. Face facts ; I'm sure I'm not the only one who has bought a High End or Custom weapon and been less than thrilled with it's performance !.
Then feel real stupid for spending that kind of money , when one out of the box wipes your kiester out of the match !.
Besides going to a Real custom stock maker ( not just some show boat grade v wood butcher ) I'm talking about having the coreect new dress put on your out of the box gun is money better spent
