thunderchildhow good is good?
i have two questions. shooting a .308
1. never having had any formal training i have nothing to compare my shooting to. in general, what is concidered a good group at 400 yards? 1 inch...10 inches???
2. how important is brass in shooting? i have lots of winchester and LC brass. does it make a lot of differance?
thanks guys.....
that depends, on what the rifle and ammo are capable of. But in general any thing under 1 MOA is pretty good. that is about 4" group at 400 yds.
Unless you have a high end benchrest rifle with ammo to match. Then you had better be well under 1/2 MOA 2" at 400yds. and that would be for an average of 5 five shot groups.
The brass is as important as you make it. If you are shooting a stock factory rifle, brass of the same lot should do well. The more you do to form it to that one rifle will, to a point, yield better accuracy. The further you shoot the more the importance grows.
