hivelosityshot some 10 round groups yesterday and thr 95 gr vlds didnt perform as i had expected the velocity was all over the place and groups showed it.
these 4 groups were shot using varget and 85gr sp and hpbt sierras and in a 15 to 25 mile wind gust, they performed great. the blacked out holes were sighters.
sweet sweet sweeeeeeeeeeeeeettt, this is a great example of how great Douglas barrels can shoot

great on you man enjoy your toy!!!! regards jjmp

sonofagun16.6 lbs? What's the dimensions of the barrel - seems awful heavy - wouldn't make heavy varmint class.
Got some better groups to show by now?

hivelosity26" .875" at the muzzle and 1.125" at the chamber end.
it makes IBS 1000yrd light weight at less than 17lbs.

sonofagunAn' yor groops

@ 36,000 inches luuk lyke...
Bye the whey...how much bullet drop (inches or foots) do you compensate for at 3,000 feets range?

hivelositynot great groups. 17" 5 shot was best.
come up for a 95gr berger at 3100 f/s is 25 moa
Or about 290"
this is my year to learn. seen some 5" groups at this range. most fall out side of 8"
it diffrent than shooting at 100 to 300 yrds.
It doesnt take much to miss.

seafire/B17GI have that exact same stock, that I have finished sanding but am waiting to seal it now.. glad to see a finished version of it.. but I noticed that you haven't done the recoil pad on your yet....
I don't know that the rifle will weigh when done, but mine is being fitted with a Mauser action with a Straight 1.25 diameter stainless steel PacNor barrel, 31 inches long and chambered in 6 mm Rem with a one in 7 twist...
Long throated to shoot those long 115 grain VLD Bergers....load is 46.5 grains of RL 19 that gives an MV of 3250 fps out of my 24 inched barrel Rem 700... will be interesting to see what the Mauser will do....
Mauser also had a Timney trigger installed when I bought it, but scrapped the stock and the 22.250 barrel it had at the time.. which was shot out and the stock was a left handed stock.. all beat to crap...
the rifle has some miles under its belt, it is an early 1930s civilian produced German Mauser....
good luck with the Savage..
cheers

hivelosityseafire post a picture when you finish.I was still working on the length when I took that picture.I shortened it up another 3/4"..
i'am thinking of a diffrent case for my next barrel,
The 243AI throat moved .050" after 800 rounds.
rechambered and now the accuracy is back but the load i shot for 1000yrs will not group very good. goint to new brass and work up a new load.
Dave
sog. at 1000yrs a slight puff of wind will cause a miss
