Dr.KSavage Warrior / Hunter ?
I've been looking at a Savage in .308 to purchase . I'm leaning toward the synthetic stock SS Warrior 16 FHSAK model. I really like the features , Accura trigger and button rifling weight is a little lighter than I would prefer . But I'll fix that . I like the Idea of a Adj. compensator muzzle brake . I just wish it was available in LH . I tried to order one from the factory but no go on this model. No Stocks is the word I received . The model 16 FLSS is available but without several of the other features . Any of you good folks out there have any choice words for Savage or these models in particular ?. I understand from what little I've read they are supposed to be a super buy for the $$$ ?. Does anyone know of a good volume / wholsale dealer ?. I look forward to the opinion of others no matter what they may be . Thank You

DFCThe weather warrior is a nice rifle for the price. I would like to have one in 204 Ruger.

Dr.KWell it seems to be a tight lock up . The finish and fit are as good as I've seen on production weapons . No wood so not much to look at , but I didn't purchase it to look at . Bolt looks heavy enough , good heavy lugs, sloppy when drawn all the way back . Not much left of the receiver bolt housing is the reason for that I suspect . Proof is in the shooting . Just as soon as I condidtion the bore and set up sights . We'll give it a spin around the block . I'll post back results of group sizes in a few weeks . For the money seems hard to be .

ART338WMDR.K,
I own Savage model 116FS Weather Warrior in 7mm STW and are quite happy with it. Savage has a well earned and deserved reputation as one of the all time most accurate out-of-the-box factory rifles out there. Mine is a solid MOA to slightly sub MOA rifle with nearly every reload I have ever put through it. The muzzle break works quite well and the fact you can turn it on and off is quite a nice option. Shop around for prices as I only paid $473 W/tax for mine six or seven years ago.
If it is any added comfort, Gun Tests Magizine consistantly gives Savage rifles high reviews, especially for their accuracy and value.

Dr.KWow right after conditioning the bore . Shot one clean shoot two clean until reaching 10 . I shot a 5 group .785 with Black Hills Ammo . I can't wait to reload for this baby .
Solid value for the money and then some !!.
Well I paid more than you did , then of course I live in a state which makes one pay for the weather !!. All the while removing rights of the individual under the guise of progessive 21 St. century thinking .
Can anyone guess which state that might be ?
I'm still real happy with this Savage , I needed to support my local Gunsmith , shop owner , they're a dying breed out my way !.

Dr.KI'm very pleased with my " Newest Addition " Savage 116 SAK it has a muzzle brake ( Oh yea keep it closed when cleaning ! ) I mounted a 6 X 24 50 MM Scope . I was how ever Disappointed it took high rings to mount though . Wish I could have found a thicker base so as to use Med rings.
All that a side , sure shoots well right out of the box !. Finished breaking in or conditioning the bore, started to develop a few loads. Printing .955 - .685 with with 168 HPBT at 100 meters. I believe this will get down to 1/2 minute angle as I continue to experiment with loads . I'm Happy with it. For the bucks extremely hard to beat accuracy !!!!!...
